Leading the Recovery: Getting High Streets and Town Centres Back on Track

Jamie Ounan

We believe that the best solutions are yet to be discovered and the best outcomes yet to be delivered. That is why we prepare organisations for change and help them implement it. We do this through an intimate understanding of their business, a relentless focus on delivery, the use of techniques that challenge the status quo and bridge traditional disciplines. We provide a range of services to public and private organisations including project and programme management, property consultancy, change management and strategy development and strategic advice. City centres are faced with a new dynamic as remote working becomes a norm in sectors that would traditionally occupy our urban and suburban cores and market towns. The Global Consumer Tracker shows that nearly 30% of consumers across the UK now shop online for food whilst high street institutions are lost or fast contracting and remodelling. Yet, there is opportunity for change and resurgence. Two weeks ago, Solace X Inner Circle Consulting held an engaging virtual session with some of the country’s leading minds on the future of our urban centres, and offer ideas for local authority leaders, thinkers, and doers.

Thank you to our Chair Laura Taylor, CEO of Winchester City Council; Stuart Harris, COO of Milligan; Andrew Cooper, CEO of LeedsBID, and Pete Cooper, Technical Director at Inner Circle Consulting for their inspiring and thought-provoking comments! They are truly showing the power of partnership, collaboration, and excellence in the sector.

We’re sharing Inner Circle’s Insight Report, Leading the Recovery: Getting High Streets and Town Centres Back on Track, which summarises the session and features an action list that you can implement now to support your local recovery, alongside case studies from Milligan and LeedsBID.
