Project Objective
Wood Green is the borough’s main town centre and is also home to the Council’s main civic offices. It is one of only 13 Metropolitan town centres across London and plays a vital role in meeting residents’ retail, leisure and civic needs. The Council has identified Wood Green as an area for significant growth and development within the Borough and as one of two regeneration priorities in the Council’s Corporate Plan. The Council and the Greater London Authority (GLA), in partnership with Transport for London (TfL), have therefore prepared a joint Area Action Plan and Investment Framework for Wood Green. The purpose of the Area Action Plan is to provide a detailed and proactive policy framework to guide development, regeneration and investment decisions across the area over the next fifteen years and beyond.

Project Impact
James Windsor lead the programme through the delivery of the Area Action Plan and its presentation to the Planning Committee and Cabinet. As part of the process James lead the engagement of the community and stakeholders in the consideration of the plan in a formal and structured process.
Utilising this consultation, the final Area Action Plan established a more detailed vision and specific objectives for the component parts of the Wood Green area, and set out the policies, proposals and site allocations required to ensure growth and development is promoted and managed to deliver the vision and the social, environmental and economic outcomes sought for the area.
The Area Action Plan delivered by James provides a single, statutory plan that provides clarity and certainty to landowners, developers, service providers and the community about how places and sites within the Wood Green area will be developed, and against which investment decisions can be made and development proposals can be assessed.
