NORTH YORKSHIRE OPE
Unlocking rationalisation opportunities and releasing land for housing in North Yorkshire through the One Public Estate programme
To help North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) develop their own One Public Estate (OPE) programme and bid for funding.
Whilst working with Ryedale District Council on their Public Sector Hub project, we suggested to North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) to develop their own One Public Estate (OPE) programme and bid for funding as they were part of the government's OPE programme.
We already had experience with OPE in other areas of the country, we understood the different local priorities and linked them together to create a win – win situation for the participants.
Round one developed seven projects and got funding for six totalling £395K.
Round two four projects totalling £295K.
Received funding to the total value of £680K.
Estimated £5m in revenue saving during 10 year period.
“Inner Circle Consulting originally suggested we join the One Public Estate Programme. They were tenacious in their approach, engaging with public sector partners in a very short period of time. Working collaboratively with other local authorities, they focussed on making sure projects were supported at all levels, from senior executives through to political leaders. With them leading us we have managed to receive nearly £700,000 funding which will enable us to strengthen cooperation between public sector organisations and develop projects so that we can rationalise our operation, cut costs and release land for housing. Having them by our side made this possible and we are continuing to work with them on further bids”
Karen Adamson, Accommodation Services Manager & OPE Programme Manager, NYCC
We engaged with local public sector partners in a very short time. Together we were able to develop and deliver the rationalisation projects. We understood the different local priorities and linked them together to create a win – win situation for the participants.
We developed seven projects in round one including the Ryedale Public Sector Hub project and received funding for six of the suggested projects and the programme to the value of £395,000. In round two we secured funding for a further four projects to the value of £295,000 (total value of £680,000). The projects are estimating £5m revenue saving during the 10 years period of the developed projects.
