Setting the direction for London Borough of Waltham Forests Housing strategy
Project Objective
To conduct a review and 'direction of travel' assessment of the housing service in Waltham Forest. In preparation for a borough-wide Housing Summit in September 2017 and had engagement with internal colleagues, partners and residents around the development of a comprehensive Housing Strategy.
Summary/Overview
We conducted a rapid review of the relevant policy and legislative framework alongside a series of interviews with council officers from departments including Housing, Planning, Adult Social Care, Licensing and Public Health. This research was developed into three key direction of travel themes.
These were communicated through a series of visualisations used in a Housing Summit (2017) keynote presentation by the Director of Housing and the subsequent Direction of Travel report.

Impact
We identified three main themes to summarise the current direction of travel for Housing in Waltham Forest, which helped to inform future decision making. The Direction of Travel report examined these themes in more detail and set out a number of 'big questions' to be explored by the Council during the development of the borough's housing strategy.
